About New 1 China
Located at Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28806, New 1 China operates as a chinese restaurant serving Asheville in North Carolina. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Asheville; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in North Carolina are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. On most of those days it is open 11 amβ9 pm. Note that it does not open on Sunday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach New 1 China at (828) 255-7988; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, new1china.com.
With 4.2 out of 5 on Google from 304 reviews, it sits in the middle of the range for chinese restaurants in Asheville. Recent reviews are the best guide.
Asheville is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Asheville follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I really like them. They are kind and the food is good. I always get the tofu homestyle and the potstickers. Yum

Although the food was good, I was disappointed when I got home because it wasn't what I ordered. Then 2 Days later when I went to eat the rice it was all dried out even though I had it closed up in a container so I'm guessing it was probably old rice when I got it. Thing is, I didn't even order rice. Won't be going back...

I'm surprised at so many negative reviews. The food is great and the prices are much more reasonable than other restaurants in town. They never fail to impress me on my lunch and dinner orders. I think some people expect NYC Chinatown food at a cheap price. I find their food is delicious and they are always friendly.

This is by far the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. I almost thought I was on a reality TV show and the host was going to jump out from the corner and give me my real food. I ordered from here Xmas day so I wanted to give them some slack but the food was so bad I had to leave a review. The pu pu platter for two was disgusting. It was like it was left out 2 days ago and re-heated up in a microwave except the taste of old dirty oil overpowered everything. The pork was a fried piece of fat, no meat. The chicken on a stick (was it suppose to be teriyaki?) was super dry and hard. The dumplings was completely overcooked and rubbery, could barely bite into it. The general TSO was the only barely edible thing after throwing out the pu pu platter. Pork fried rice had nothing in it besides rice.

I ordered both a lunch combo, and a special combo, and chose for the rice to be pork fried rice. There was nothing in the rice, no pork or even onions, peas, carrots, bits of egg, just nothing. It was just plain fried rice. Only positive from my orders was that the shrimp in the lobster sauce were properly cleaned shrimp. Haven't eaten here in years, but after having ordered from here once more, I can say I won't be doing so again.
